At St Richard’s, we believe that children and young people
are really special, and we try to do all that we can to
welcome them and provide fun activities for them.
Many families attend church on Sundays, and children from
2½
to 12 can attend Sunday clubs appropriate to their age
group whilst their parents worship in the main service. We
have a children’s area for under 5s and their
parents/carers, which contains age appropriate toys, books,
puzzles and a colouring table. Our services are very
child-friendly. We have many lively children in church and
above all want to ensure that they and their parents feel
comfortable.
Many more children and young people attend the weekly
groups, which meet during termtime for children from 0 to
18 years old. There is more information on each of these
groups in the following pages.
We also run an annual holiday club, during the first full
week of the summer holidays, which around 200 children and
young people attend. We also run shorter holiday clubs for
Halloween and Good Friday.
We are able to offer so many activities for children and
young people because of the dedication and passion of those
in our church who volunteer to lead or help with these
groups and spend much time and energy preparing and leading
activities. We are passionate about children’s and youth
work. Jesus said, “Let the children come to me.” He cared
about children and so do we; we want to teach them about
our faith, as well as seeing them flourish and have
fun.
